Balancing CSR with Team buildingTo be able to make a long lasting contribution in the place that you are meeting, has definitely made Corporate Social Responsibility Team building the top team building activity for corporate companies in Singapore. However, ensuring a balance between Corporate Social Responsibility and Team building has always been a challenge for organisers. How do you achieve the charity element while ensuring team bonding amongst the team is enforced? Understanding this challenge, Grace at Work Teambuilding has taken the position of ensuring both our corporate clients and beneficiaries achieve their objective through our CSR team bonding programs. To achieve that balance, we always follow the key rule in our program creation. Only creating a program product that would genuinely help someone in need. One example of our success in achieving that balance is evident in our latest addition to our team building program list; Golf Gives Back CSR Teambuilding. The objective was to introduce amateur golf to the staff in our client's company and encourage a work life balance. The criteria was to minimise the waste of materials and maximise the budget to benefit a beneficiary. With these team building objective in mind, we set about to create Golf Gives Back CSR Teambuilding, which emphasize the use of grocery items for the creation of the golf courses. Participants find themselves as architects of mini golf courses, looking to create the formidable course to rule the day! With the completion of the courses, teams gather around to challenge their opponents courses through a friendly golf competition. Not only was the team building activity a great success in delivering team building objectives such as Communications, Leadership and Teamwork values. It was also able to generate the 6 months worth of grocery items to benefit the community at Ang Mo Kio Family Services! ~ Not All Heroes Wear Capes ~
If your career has brought you through established MNC (Multi National Companies), teambuilding events should not come as something unfamiliar. With the proven benefits and intangible returns from a well programmed teambuilding session, even SME (Small Medium Enterprise) are also making the investment on such trainings.
When you google the keywords such as Teambuilding Programs Singapore, you will be overwhelmed with choices such as, Amazing Races, Charity CSR Teambuilding programs and even a rough it out Survival teambuilding. So which would be right for you and your team? Setting The Objective Just like any operational planning, you need a desired outcome to configure your teambuilding event. Are you looking at discovering individual employees working characteristic? Would you want to develop leadership skills for potential employees or perhaps its just a let your hair down session for the team to destress. Once you have decided on a desired objective, planning for your teambuilding activity would be much clearer. Know Your Participants When we meet our clients to discuss about their teambuilding events, we make it a point to get a good picture of who are the participants. Age range, gender mix, their positions in the company and whether they are locals would help us recommend the right teambuilding programs. The trickiest audience to organise a teambuilding program for are the Senior Managements. You are talking about experienced professionals who has been in the business arena for at least 20 years. They are the ones who drive mega-corporations through with sound business strategy and the last thing they need is a Teambuilding Facilitator being all philosophical with them. So instead of telling them what they know, we facilitate the teambuilding session and further reinforce what they know with our programs. What this translate to you as an organiser is to feed us the right information so we can customise the ideal session for you. Reward the Team At the end of the day, a teambuilding program will only be successful if the teams are enjoying themselves. So an indoors teambuilding session can be arranged at a comfortable venue and fitted with a deserving lunch would surely raise the moral of the team. If you are having an outdoors teambuilding session, make sure to have adequate chilled drinks prepared for the team. With these added comfort, the participants can fully enjoy the day out of office and be ready to learn and receive from the session. Have you notice that your sales have been plumating and noone seems to know the reason? Or maybe the amount of time you have to spend mediating office disputes are more than you could handle. Or perhaps its the masses of resignation letters on your table. If those are the constant fears you face as a team leader or manager, this article could shine a light on whats happening in your team. Who is in your team A team is only as strong as the weakest member. This Chinese proverb can not be more true as to how you should treat and groom your team. Taking time to know more about their background and life would allow you to create bonds and know why performance are dropping. Employees would also appreciate if their superiors take the extra effort to remember more than their last profit margin. Not good with words? Teambuilding programs provide Ice-breaker programs to break the awkward barrier and allow you to learn more about your team through fun training. Breaking the barricade and recreating bonds Each of your staff are unique individuals and for them to work as a formidable force, they would need the bond to work as one. Your role as a leader is to break the walls between the individuals and help them recreate the bond to forge forward as a team. You can do this by employing Indoor teambuilding programs which are conducted in conducive environment, ideal for in-depth teambuilding training. Through teambuilding programs, your team are exposed to simulated scenarios which are less stressful than actual work situation. They are challenged to work and perform as a team as they would in the office. Through this simulation, the team would be discovering and learning the communication skills required in the team. Through fun and effective training, your team would have the opportunity to learn how to work together but not risk your company operation. Setting the goals The worst thing for a team is to operate without a leader. To be that leader, you will need to be clear on the direction you would want your team to move towards. Set periodic goals for them to pace themselves and occasionally check on their progress to be sure the team is moving on the right direction. With these goals, your team will have the time line and direction to perform tasks required to achieve that profit line you aim.
